Description
Water Street is central to downtown Skowhegan and has long been one of the town’s busiest streets. Some of the businesses along Water Street in the early 20th century, as shown in this postcard, included the Oxford Hotel, a Sears store, Fogg’s Drug Store, and a branch of the F.W. Woolworth store chain. Dental, legal, and other offices often occupied the higher floors of the shop buildings.
The caption reads, "Water Street, Skowhegan, Maine."
The Tichnor Brothers printing company published this type of postcard circa 1938.
