Description
Martin Van Buren (1782-1862) served as the eighth president of the United States. During his presidency he oversaw the resolution of the northeast boundary dispute between the United States and Great Britain, involving the regions of northeastern Maine, the northern borders of New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York and the boundary between Michigan and Quebec.
