Description
Station Bridge from Cornish to West Baldwin during the floods of Spring, 1936. The house on the far right is seen to be flooded half way up the first floor. Frank Smith recalls that this house has been flooded many times in his memory, yet it still stands. The men on the bridge may have been carrying the mail from Cornish Post Office to Cornish Station. They did not dare put a vehicle on the bridge during the floods. Franks grandfather was the postman and said that when you walked across the bridge and logs and debris hit the bridge you could feel the whole structure shudder, which made them feel a bit apprehensive.
