Description

This abandoned church building, built about 1863, was located on North Lubec Road, approximately four miles from County Highway 189.

According to the book 200 Years of Lubec History 1776-1976, Rev. Donald Stockford (1907-1982) served as pastor from November 1940 until June 1968 "when, due to the decline in population, Church and Sunday School were discontinued."

Stockford was also pastor of the Christian Temple Disciples of Christ Church on Main Street and the South Lubec Disciples of Christ Church.

Originally from Nova Scotia, Stockford took U.S. citzenship in 1950 and continued pastoring until August 28, 1982, when he died during a special church service. Mrs. Marjorie Stockford was an organist and both were highly active in community affairs.
