Description
During the 1930s, the Greek Junior Red Cross sent currants to numerous American Junior Red Cross organizations, to bake in cookies for American drought victims. These members of the Portland chapter of the American Junior Red Cross displayed the gift boxes and the currants used in the baking process. The boxes say "A Merry Christmas from the Greek Junior Red Cross."
The Junior American Red Cross was established in World War I and continued as a separate organization into the 1950s.
