Description
Horace W. Shaylor (1845-1925) was a penman and artist living in Portland. Shaylor moved from Ohio to Maine in 1861, where he pursued a career in penmanship education. He was the supervisor of drawing and writing in the Portland Public School district and worked with Portland schools for 45 years.
Shaylor and his wife Augusta had two children, Horace W. Jr. and Luella.
