Description
Capt. Charles C.G. Thornton of Co. C of the 12th Maine Regiment wrote to Brig. Gen. George F. Shepley, following up on an earlier letter about an apparently lost paperwork for an assignment to Shepley's staff.
Shepley was a former commander of the 12th Maine.
Thornton wrote, "The Col. found it at Billy Wilsons tent & took it to Genl. Dwight, who immediately approved it."
