Description
George W. French (1882-1970) took this portrait of an unidentified man.
French was born in Kezar Falls. A graduate of Bates College, he taught school in Maine and Massachusetts and then worked for the Boy Scouts in New Jersey.
He started his business as an art and commercial photographer in Bloomfield, New Jersey in the 1920s.
From 1936-1955 French was the official photographer for the Maine Development Commission. He worked to capture Maine's natural beauty and promote tourism.
