Description
Photographer George W. French took this picture of three men leading cattle down a road. French practiced taking photographs with strong shadows. He felt that shadows gave the picture more depth and interest.
French was born in Kezar Falls, attended Bates College, and worked as a photographer for the Maine Development Commission. He lived in New Jersey during much of the 1920s.
