Description
Swiss ski racer Manfred Jakober is seen in the finish area after crashing against the fence. He finished the race successfully but could not stop before hitting the wooden safety fence. The result was a bent pole and bruised ego. Along with his fellow members, Manfred was using borrowed skis.
The Swiss Ski Team lost most of its equipment due to a fire in their waxing trailer the night before the scheduled Giant Slalom race. The race had to be postponed a day while competitors arranged to borrow equipment. The World Cup was still in its early years and much camaraderie existed between the competitors.
