Description
This ticket admits Captain Benjamin Davis "and Ladies" to a "Social Dance" and "Dramatic Entertainment" held on November 18, 1874 at Central Hall in Lisbon. Social events were often sponsored by fire engine companies, which functioned as social clubs in addition to fire fighting.
Dances were often held during competitive fire musters when engine companies from across Maine and New England would meet to find out which engines and crews were best at pumping water, climbing ladders, etc.
