Description
A Dutch Boy Paint sign hangs over the entrance of the Hartland Emporium, co-owned and managed by John W. Plummer from 1959 to 1984. The Emporium sold hardware, sporting and recreation goods, and items for the home out of what had been known as the Park House, originally a 19th century inn in the center of town.
Plummer co-owned the entire building with an out-of-state partner. In the mid-1970s, Plummer opened the "Coffee Shoppe" in the center of the building, to the left of the hardware store. He and his partner sold the building and businesses in 1984. The building was torn down in the 1990s to make way for a grocery store and parking lot.
