Description
Launched in 1921, the classic American schooner Bowdoin appears in this 1946 photograph taken just after her first restoration following her service in World War II. The schooner was restored again in the 1970s and early 1980s. She was listed as a National Historic Landmark in 1989.
The Bowdoin continues to sail today. Acquired in 1988 by Maine Maritime Academy for use as a training vessel, she voyages around New England and northward to Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Labrador and Greenland.
