Description
The 1849 school catalogue for St. Albans academy. Among some of the listings in this catalag are the officers of the school, students, the textbooks that were used, tuition prices, regulations and a "Mission Statement".
St. Albans Academy was incorporated February 11, 1832. Boundary lines at that time placed the Academy well into what is now Hartland at the corner of Crosby and Academy streets. At some point through the years it became Hartland Academy, possibly when the town line was moved. As late as 1967 Hartland Academy was still in operation as a Junior High School
In 2002 the former academy building housed both the Hartland Town Office and Historical Society until the later part of the decade, at which time the building became vacant for a few years and was eventually sold.
