Description
Spanish prisoners from the Spanish-American War of 1898 were housed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery.
This image shows the departure of these prisoners, in the foreground one prisoner is carried out on a stretcher. 1. Spanish surgeon, 2. Med. Inspector Persons. U.S. Navy, 3. Lt. Col. Meade, U.S. Marine Corps, 4. Lieut. Angel Cervera, Spanish Navy, 5. Sergeant, U.S.M.C., 6. Spanish Chaplain.
