Description
In the 1920s developer James Ashe of St. Petersburg FL issued this brochure promoting five acre “estates” on a 16 square mile tract of land in the remote hills and lakes of central Washington County, Maine. The property is located on the east side of Route 192, just south of Wesley village.
This hunter and fisherman’s paradise was marketed to the affluent of the era. According to an article in the St. Petersburg Times for April 14, 1926, “Leading sportsmen of Florida...(and) a large number of prominent local citizens have bought there.”
As of 2012 a search for “Burwash” reveals many still-undeveloped lots for sale.
