Description
Pictured is Charles E. "Chubb" Colby, foreman of the Androscoggin Fire Company of Topsham, at the 1945 Labor Day fire muster in Lewiston. Chubb stands next to the Androscoggin No. 2, the company's hand engine, which won numerous competitions.
Chubb was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, but his family moved to Lisbon Falls when he was young. He served the Androscoggin Fire Company as foreman for much of the first half of the 20th century.
