Description

Black and white postcard of a four-masted schooner,"Theoline"at the mouth of Somes Sound. This photo was taken by W.H. Ballard. John Latty of Tremont was the captain of Theoline.

According to Ralph Stanley, local Southwest Harbor historian, Theoline was built in Rockland. She engaged in transport trade, moving coal and tin cans to the Underwood Canning factory. The ship is believed to have been constructed during World War I and foundered during World War II.
