Description
In 1918, Somesville was still a bustling center of commerce and industry, a place where water-powered mills produced lumber, wool, and flour. There were stores for groceries, clothing, and a blacksmith The buildings of the town are clustered along Main Street and the shore. The steeple of the Union Meeting House and a windmill are visible.
This is a post card dated July 12, 1918 addressed to Mr. Arthur Leland, Walnut Hill, Me c/o Mr. J.M. Britt:
"Dear Art, Just a card this morning. The sun is shining fine this morning and we are hustling trying to get something done. And I suppose you are. Your G-ma has gone to N.E. at last. Roy was up a few minutes last evening." Mother
This postcard has an unusual view of the village and is in color.
