Description
According to information provided by the photographer this photograph shows the first step in manufacturing slate. By using a diamond edge saw, which is water cooled, the slabs are cut into the right lengths for roofing shingles.
From left to right, Monson Slate Company employees are Reginald Call operating the saw, and the installation boss Herbert Seamons.
This is the sixth image in a series of nine photographs taken at the Barnard Quarry.
