Description
This photograph was taken at the Monson-Maine Slate Company warehouse and shows the crates of slate ready to be transported to customers. Outside of the warehouse doors, tracks ran along side a wooden platform where slate would be loaded onto flatbed railroad cars, owned by the Monson Narrow Gauge Railroad, for transport.
The narrow gauge train would then take the slate six miles to Monson Junction, in Abbot, where it would be reloaded on to the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad.
