Description
The Marine Hospital, first built in 1855, then renovated in 1859, is located at 331 Veranda Street in Portland. Architect Ammi B. Young designed the hospital. It was constructed with mainly brick, granite blocks, and cast-iron for the porches. The style of architecture is described as Italianate.
In 2007, the Marine Hospital building won a Special Preservation Honor Award from Greater Portland Landmarks.
