Description
This Hartland Grammar School diploma was awarded to Mary Anderson on June 5, 1902. The school principal was Wm. H. Thompson and the Supervisor of Schools was C.H. Smith.
The Grammar School was located in the Hartland Academy building on Academy Street. The building cost $3500 to build in 1856 and consisted of 2 full floors. The original brick building burned in 1923, and it was immediately rebuilt.
Mary was a lifelong resident of Hartland and taught in the academy building and in the North Hartland school district after her graduation from high school in 1906.
