Description
From the late 1700's until its incorporation as Dixfield in 1803, Dixfield Centre (also known as The Common) and the surrounding area of Township #1 was called Holmantown. Col. Jonathan Holman is credited with founding of Holmantown. Consequently, there are many accounts of Holman Family Reunions in among the historical documents of Dixfield.
The large room in the upstairs of this homestead was used for many community functions, dances, and for town meetings for half a century. In 2012, this frame building is still standing but in great disrepair.
