Description
The Webb's River Bridge connects Mexico on the Left and Dixfield on the Right. This iron structure bridge spans Webb's River as it empties into the Androscoggin River. It is depicted in this photograph as it appeared in the late nineteenth century.
To the left of Webb's River Bridge, on the Mexico side, this image shows the Hosea Austin's tannery and to the right Dixfield's oldest saw and grist mill. The saw and grist mill was constructed by Dr. Elijah Dix in 1803-04 and later run by Amos Trask. The large white church depicted in the background of the photograph on this hill is the Congregational "Church on the Hill" Church located on High Street.
