Description
This postcard of Weld Street, Dixfield, shows three businesses of the day around 1930. The small building to the left was Mel Bishop's Jewelry Store. The center building, originally Randall's Law Office, was the Rumford Power and Light Office. The large building is the C.H. Towle Hardware Store. Towle's Hardware, a one hundred year plus and four generation business, continues in 2013. The building, however, was razed in 2008 and replaced by a new, modernized facility.
