Description
This trophy was awarded to the Androscoggin No. 2 hand engine company of Topsham for taking first place at the hand engine muster in Bath on July 5, 1875. Muster competitions were judged on how far the engine could deliver a stream of water. The Androscoggin won with a stream of 172 feet, six inches. The engine foreman was Daniel A. Hall. The pipemen were Alden Q. Goud and Caleb Ridley.
The award is in the form of a small silver speaking trumpet. Similar to a megaphone, speaking trumpets were used by engine foremen to yell directions to the fire company. This one is engraved with flower designs.
