Description
The Gladstone School, built in 1857, was located in the Walpole area of Bristol. Although this picture was taken ca. 1915, the year that South Bristol split off from the town of Bristol, it is impossible to tell if the image dates to before or after formal secession on March 19, 1915.
All nineteen students standing outside their one-room school are identified on the back of the photograph, along with their teacher Mildred Bowman.
Standing in the first row from left to right are: Robert Woodward, Doris Goudy, and Ruth Feltis.
In the second row from left to right are: Sumner Curtis [m. Ruth Feltis], Carl Feltis, Clifton Sproul, Percy Brown, Scott Cramer, Paul Goudy, and Carolyn Feltis.
Ine the furthest back row from left to right are: Louis Cramer, Florence Hatch, Irving Hatch, Albert Kelsey, Marguerite Feltis, Doris Mank, Marie Brown, Alice Kelsey, and Mildred Bowman (teacher).
Today, in 2013, the building is a private residence.
