Description
Prentiss M. Fogler (1839-1897) of Hope was 23 when he enlisted as 2nd lieutenant in Co. I of the 20th Maine Infantry Regiment on August 29, 1862.
He was promoted to full 1st lieutenant, then to captain of Co. I. He mustered out on June 9, 1865.
Fogler and his wife, Caroline, and children lived in Augusta after the war. He was register of deeds.
