Description
Sarah Tarbox Greenleaf receives a letter from her niece, Sarah, who is living and working in Boston. Sarah, the letter's author, is probably Sarah C. Greenleaf (b. 07-21-1831), daughter of Westbrook and Emeline Greenleaf. Sarah C. Greenleaf lived in Suffolk County, MA in the 1860 census; and the cousin, Pamelia, she refers to in the letter is a Greenleaf.
Sarah Tarbox (b. 01-07-1823), the daughter of Mary "Polly" and Samuel Tarbox, a wealthy landowner and civic leader in Westport Island, ME, married Wilmot Greenleaf, also of Westport, in 1852. Wilmot served as the town's Treasurer, and owned a blacksmith shop and a shingle machine at Greenleaf Cove.
