Description
This is a business letter to Wilmot Greenleaf, Treasurer, Westport, from Wm. P. Lennox of Wiscasset.
Wilmot Greenleaf, (b. June 20, 1821), was the husband of Sarah Tarbox, the daughter of Samuel Tarbox, a wealthy landowner and civic leader in Westport. Wilmot served as the Treasurer of Westport Island from 1852-1854; and from 1874-1880. He also served as a Selectman for several terms from the 1860s to 1880s. William P. Lennox, (b. 10-27-1823), was listed as a merchant in the 1860 federal census. He was later a Treasurer of Wiscasset and an officer of the Bank of Wiscasset.
