Description
The Miranda, an oyster dredger, was built in 1906 in Kennebunk for Charles Dan Parmalee of the Narragansett Bay Oyster Company of Providence, Rhode Island.
The dredger was powered by a 200 horsepower compound engine and vertical boiler, built by the Portland Company.
The Miranda was named after one the owner's great-grandfather used in the Caribbean trade.
After the Miranda was abandoned, the pilot house was lifted off and used as a telephone booth at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut.
