Description
This photograph of the Cumberland mill and dam in Westbrook was taken in October of 1884. Samuel D. Warren purchased the Cumberland mill in 1854. The name Cumberland Mills remained the official name of the business until 1919, when the mill was incorporated and became the S.D. Warren Company. The mill was purchased by Sappi in 1995.
