Description

A Friendship sloop, a traditional boat used by lobster fisherman, has just passed the Jameson & Wotton Wharf on Davis Point as it sails out of Friendship harbor. A number of Friendship sloops are on their moorings. Developed in the late 19th century, these handsome little boats were the mainstay of the Friendship fishing fleet until the introduction of the gasoline engine in the early 20th century.

The Jameson & Wharf dominates the shore line and was the largest commercial wharf in Friendship during its day.
