Contributed by Havener family through Friendship Museum
Description
On July 15, 1896, Sherman Jameson wrote to the Friendship selectmen requesting permission to extend the old Davis wharf by 100 feet. He had acquired the wharf through his marriage to Elmira Davis.
Jameson's request was the result of a conversation with I.E. Archibald, who owned a steamboat company in Rockland. Archibald had promised to bring his steamboats to Friendship if Jameson would extend the wharf so that it would be accessible at low tide.
This led to what became the Jameson and Wotton Wharf in 1897.
