Description
Mary "Polly" Tarbox (b. June 25, 1786; d. October 6, 1848) writes to tell her daughter about a trip to the country and the trip back home. Sarah was the eighth child of Polly and Samuel Tarbox, the first First Selectman, a postmaster and wealthy land trader and fishing merchant of Westport Island, Maine.
Polly mentioned that family members stopped at "Andrew's" on the way home. Andrew was her oldest son, and a mariner, who lived in Woolwich at the time this letter was written.
