Description
While the Webb River was vital to the industrial growth of Dixfield and surrounding villages, it was and continues to be a source of recreation. These skaters, ca. 1900, having outing on the frozen river are a prime example of the river as a source of recreation. Other recreational pursuits that townsfolk have used the river for include swimming, boating, and fishing.
The Webb River is a tributary of the Androscoggin River and forms the boundary between the towns of Mexico and Dixfield. The river enters the Androscoggin just west of the village of Dixfield. The entire course of the river is paralleled by Maine Route 142.
