Description
The Biddeford VFW Corps members are shown here in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The Biddeford VFW Corps traveled to Philadelphia to compete for the National Title of the Bicycle Safety Championship.
Since 1923 the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) have promoted safety in their communities. VFW Posts sponsor bicycle safety clubs.
In 1962, Posts started providing reflective stickers through the Lite-a-Bike program. When manufacturers began putting lights on bicycles, the reflective stickers were moved to backpacks and jackets and the program name changed to Lite-a-Tike.
Pictured from left to right are: Paul Martel, Ralph Lachance, Bill Martin, Robert Neveux and Jean-Paul Dorais.
