Description
The Captain Lewy was a steamboat that worked the waters of Big Lake, Lewy Lake and Long Lake between 1853 and 1920. It was built by the Schoodic Lake Steamboat Corp. which was made up of Washington County mill operators and lumber merchants. It towed booms of logs through the lakes destined for the mills downstream in Princeton and beyond. This picture shows the Captain Lewy up on blocks in the winter while the lakes were iced over.
