Description
Rebecca Usher, a nurse at the U.S. General Hospital in Chester, Pennsylvania, wrote to her sister Ellen Usher Bacon of Portland to thank her for the delivery of a box of clothing, and food, and other items for soldiers recovering at the hospital.
She wrote that many of the patients were leaving shortly to return to their regiments, so it was especially helpful to have clothing and other things they needed for their return to the battlefield.
She wrote about a visit to Baltimore and finding a friend who lived there. Usher discussed a speech by Butler and its invocation of Christianity.
