Description
Samuel Miller of Waldoboro was 18 when he enlisted in Co. E of the 20th Maine Infantry on Aug. 25, 1862 as a private. An Adjutant General's report notes he is a clerk at headquarters. He is listed in other Adjutant General's reports as a quartermaster sergeant and a first lieutenant.
The writing on the face of the photograph identifies him as S.S. Miller.
