Description
This photograph shows the Centennial Committee planned Princeton's centennial celebration in 1932. In the front row, from left to right, are: Neil McCannell, Emma Robinson, Verna Blake, Carrie Porter, Abbey Johnson, Laura Spooner, Annie Rolfe, Mae Horsman and Maurice Richards. In the back row, from left to right, are: Will McKechnie, Harry McDowell, Dexter Robbins, Dr. Charles Johnson, Dr. Charles Spooner, J. Willard Edgerly, Sanborn McDowell and Fred Richards.
Princeton is a town in northern Washington County and was incorporated in February of 1832. According to the record of James Spencer, a grandson of the first white settler Moses Bonney, Princeton was named in honor of the town of Princeton in Massachusetts where Ebenezer Rolfe, one of the early town members emigrated from.
