Description
This photo was taken at the Dixfield Congregational Church on Feb. 25, 1947, and shows this community women's chorus seated in front of the Esty pipe organ. The Esty organ was purchased in 1917 during the pastorate of Rev. Ransom Gilkey and made possible through the generous donations of the "Church on the Hill" congregation and the assistance of the Carnegie Endowment Fund.
The women's chorus was led in concert by Nat Weston (fourth from the left), and these were many of the prominent ladies of the day. Natal "Nat" Weston taught French and music at Dixfield High School.
