Description
This photograph is of Maine Central Institute (CMI) Alumni Secretary, and later MCI Headmaster, Edward Stanley receiving a gift of $100 for the school at Mary Weymouth Dodge's 99th birthday. Dodge was celebrating "entering her 100th year." This photograph was taken at Mrs. Gilbert's Hospital in Yarmouth where Dodge had made her home.
Dodge was the daughter of one of MCI's founders, the Reverend Nathaniel Weymouth, and graduated from MCI in 1874 in a class of only five students. She married Dr. Mark T. Dodge, class of 1876, who practiced medicine in Troy Maine for twenty-five years. At the time of this photograph, Dodge was MCI's oldest living alumnus. She passed away in 1956 and was buried in Troy Maine.
