Description
This is a rare photograph of the interior of the "Church on the Hill", known at this time as the Universalist Church, as it looked around the turn of the century. The Universalists, Methodists, and Free Will Baptists merged in 1912 to form the Dixfield Congregational Church. The original church structure was built in 1828 on Meeting House Hill in Dixfield Village and has been a landmark for the community ever since.
