Description
Former Casco Bank Building, Main Street, Street, Bridgton.
This is the tax record for a bank building owned by the Casco Bank and Trust company at the time of the survey, ca. 1938. The card was updated at an unknown later date to reflect ownership by Exchange Corp. The street address is also at the time of survey. The card references a deed dated 1935. This is not the date of the photograph.
Built in 1907 for $11,000, the building was the home of the Bridgton Savings Bank, Bridgton National Bank, Casco Mercantile Trust Company, and the Casco Bank and Trust Company. In 1965 the town purchased the property, and the building was used to house municipal offices, a courtroom, and jail. In 1989 the town moved its offices to a newly-constructed building. This building was sold and remodeled, and has been home to a variety of offices since that time.
