Description
Bridgton News Building, Maine Street, Bridgton.
This tax record is for a commercial building owned by Eva L. Shorey at the time of the survey, ca. 1938. The street address is also at the time of survey. The card references a deed dated 1932. This is not the date of the photograph.
The Bridgton News, founded in 1870, moved into this building following a major fire in 1879. Previously, this building was a blacksmith shop and carriage manufacturer. In 1969 the Bridgton News moved into the building next door. The Shorey family owned the paper until 2012.
