Description
At 6:00 am on August 24, 1922 church bells pealed throughout the town of Monson as the town's 100th Anniversary celebration began. At 8:00 am, a flag ceremony was held and people began to line the downtown streets of Monson in anticipation of the parade and remaining activities in celebration of the town.
The parade was lead by resident L.A. Stanchfield dressed as "Uncle Sam" a popular patriot symbol of the United States at that time. Following him were members of the Monson Band lead by director C.L. Jackson. The parade lasted an hour and was followed by water competitions on Lake Hebron as well as track events, which were held at Monson Academy.
