Description
The Rock End Hotel was built on Manchester point on Gilpatrick's Cove in Northeast Harbor, in 1883 by Herman LaFritz Savage. The hotel was owned and managed by Savage family members, including John Mardell Savage and Verna Savage and burned to the ground in 1942. The hotel was not rebuilt after the fire and the property was divided and sold.
In addition to the Hotel, there were also several cottages and homes in the immediate area that were owned and/or rented by the Savage Family. Some of the cottages were designed by architect Fred Savage who was a nephew of Herman LaFritz Savage.
This brochure is 6 pages. It describes the Inn and the surrounding Northeast Harbor vacation attributes.
