Description

Charles C. Price (1867-1890) was raised on Ponce Street in Portland’s Munjoy Hill neighborhood, the only child of Irish parents.

Price worked a few blocks away as a messenger and clerk for the Grand Trunk Railway. In 1890, Price began work for the Maine Steamship Company on Franklin Wharf. He is pictured here in the uniform of the Portland Montgomery Guards, a popular local military drill team which performed displays of military close-order drills throughout the United States and Canada.

Price died in October of 1890, of consumption, at the age of 23.
